ASEA Study Shows Signaling Pathways in Genes After Consuming Redox Supplement

This initial study shows ASEA Redox signaling supplement to signal human genes, which have “shut off” due to stress, toxins, age, etc., and turn them back on.

ASEA partnered with Taueret Laboratories, a leading genetic research laboratory, to conduct an observational study to understand how ASEA REDOX affects the activation of human genes. The eight-week human study was reviewed and approved by Quorum Review Independent Review Board, ensuring the ethical integrity, safety, and control of the research study. The study was a randomized double-blind placebo controlled study.

60 participants were randomly placed into three groups, 25 in an active group (ASEA REDOX), 25 in a placebo group (saline placebo), and 10 in a control group (did not drink either ASEA REDOX or placebo). The placebo was derived from the same saline solution used to create the actual ASEA REDOX for this study, but did not contain ASEA’s patented redox molecules.

Of the 60 participants, 41% were male and 59% were female, with the mean age 35.  Each participant, except for the control group, drank 4 ounces of ASEA REDOX or placebo twice daily.

Participants had blood drawn at the beginning of the study and again at week eight of the study. Serum RNA was extracted using a PreAnalytix PAXgene Blood RNA Kit. Gene expression levels were then tested using Affymetrix PrimeView Array and differential expression within and between groups analyzed.

Results

Results of the eight-week study showed a 20 – 31% difference in gene expression abundance in five genes that are involved in pathway signaling, including regulatory network pathways. Long-term consumption of ASEA REDOX resulted in stable expression changes at the eight-week time point (figure 1). These genes are key in the health of the individual and play a vital role in five human health areas and dozens of pathways.

Pathway signaling genes are unique as they have the potential to influence a multitude of biological responses. Analysis of the five genes was provided through two pathway analysis programs, PANTHER (Protein ANalysis THrough Evolutionary Relationships) and WikiPathways. An example of a gene product that was expressed in this study that interacts with multiple important pathways is the EGR1 gene.

In order to better understand how the genes reacted post-study, the ASEA REDOX group that saw the 20 – 31% change provided blood samples eight weeks post-study. The results demonstrated that all the changes seen while on the product had reverted back to their pre-study levels.

SUMMARY –

• The initial study data suggests that five genes   expressed a change in transcript abundance.

• The ASEA REDOX group saw gene activation results in  regulatory pathway related genes that signal dozens of  important biological functions.

• The ASEA REDOX and the placebo (saline) behaved  differently.

• There were no harmful changes in the gene expression  trends of the participants consuming either beverage  during the course of the study. This is representative of  long-term safety.

• Daily consumption of ASEA REDOX over eight weeks  appears to result in stable expression changes.

• Changes in gene expression eight weeks post study in  the ASEA REDOX group were no longer observed. This  suggests continued use of ASEA REDOX is necessary to  sustain the observed gene expression results.

• Effects of consuming ASEA REDOX are systemic.

• Effects are non-specific to race, sex or age, and were  observed in all populations tested.

Clinical Trial Shows Athletic Advantage For ASEA Athletes

Study finds that after drinking ASEA for one week, athletes experienced shift in 43 metabolites

Salt Lake City, Utah — ASEA, LLC announces the release of groundbreaking findings at the Experimental Biology 2012 Conference in San Diego of a new study from the Human Performance Laboratory showing increased power output and endurance among competitive athletes.*

Nieman, DrPH, FACSM at the Human Performance Laboratory, Appalachian State University, found that after drinking ASEA athletes experienced massive free-fatty acid mobilization in the blood PRIOR to exercise to a level normally found only after heavy exercise.

“These are very significant findings,” said Nieman. “Our research demonstrated that ASEA is causing mobilization of free-fatty acids PRIOR to exercise, making this source of fuel available at the outset of exercise or competitive performance. This has important implications, especially regarding glycogen sparing, which is something every athlete tries to achieve.”
Glycogen sparing is the use of non-carbohydrates as a source of energy during exercise so that the depletion of muscle glycogen is delayed. When glycogen is spared the body burns fats for energy, making a greater contribution to an athlete’s efforts during the initial stages of a race. This leaves more glycogen for the later stages of racing or exercise, and muscle fatigue will be delayed.

The research found that after drinking ASEA for one week, athletes were experiencing a shift in 43 metabolites.

“We have rarely seen such a drastic difference. For 43 of those signals to change, that is a quarter of the metabolite profile that we are monitoring. It is a huge bump in metabolite shifts that are due to the ingestion of just one product,” said Nieman.

What do these metabolite shifts mean for athletes?

“Athletes actually started the exercise after drinking ASEA with a lot more of these free-fatty acids in their blood. The reason that is important is that the muscles will actually use that as fuel, sparing the muscle glycogen and the use of amino acids which is what we found as we analyzed the data,” said Nieman.

“Every understanding from the literature is that these probably came from the fat stores in the abdominal area,” said Nieman. “So if you drink ASEA we found that the fats go up in the blood. If you’re not exercising, those fats will still be used to support the body’s metabolism for life.”

Simply drinking ASEA for seven days mobilized fuel stores in the body from abdominal fat. For those that want to burn more fat during exercise ASEA is ideal. Even without exercise the freed up fat stores will be used by the body as fuel.

Although this is the first laboratory study of ASEA on athletes, many endurance athletes have been drinking ASEA and noticing improvements in their race times, recovery after racing/training, etc.

But at the same time it’s great to have that solid evidence that laboratory test make official. For example, during a single sprint muscle glycogen may deplete by 25% to 30% of the resting levels. Similarly, at the end of longer durations (60 to 90 minutes) of high, moderate and low exercise muscle, glycogen will be dramatically reduced or depleted.

The study included 20 fit athletes in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-based, cross-over study. After baseline testing for VO2Max and body composition, one-half of the athletes drank four ounces of ASEA each day for seven days. The other one-half of the athletes drank four ounces of a placebo for seven days. Then all athletes completed a 75-km cycling trial, with blood drawn prior to the trial, immediately after the trial and one hour after the trial.

After a “washout” period in which none of the athletes drank ASEA or the placebo, a seven day cross-over study was conducted. The original ASEA group drank the placebo and the original placebo group drank ASEA for a seven day period. Then all athletes completed a second 75-km cycling trial, with blood drawn prior to the trial, immediately after the trial and one hour after the trial.

The research demonstrated that drinking ASEA taps into the body’s largest energy reserves, freeing fatty acids from adipose tissue, BEFORE exercise or athletic competition.

“This unexpected mobilization of fatty acids in theory will lead to better endurance in athletes, assisting athletes to maintain a certain pace for longer periods of time,” said Nieman.

The research found that the release of fatty acids is coming from fatty adipose tissue, the body’s source of abundant, available energy. Adipose tissue is fat stored around the organs of the body, with the most common and largest fat store being the abdominal area. Adipose tissue triglycerides represent the largest energy reserve in the human body. Utilizing these stores is critical for prolonged endurance exercise.

The study also demonstrated that the athletes in the study experienced a massive increase in blood levels of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) after exercise. This could indicate less oxidative stress on muscles. Further research is being conducted to determine the implications of this increase.

“This study is the latest in ASEA’s commitment to ongoing research. The frontiers of redox signaling molecules and ASEA are constantly being pushed. This latest study is not a destination, but an on-ramp,” said Verdis Norton, Chief Executive Officer at ASEA.

Being in good physical and mental shape is even more crucial when you are dealing with a disease that has taken so many lives. For the person dealing with a cancer diagnosis, such as mesothelioma, getting regular exercise has the potential to help in a plethora of ways.

Below is a list of some of the benefits that come with regular exercise:

Reducing your stress – With as little as 30 minutes of activity per day, you can see an increase in serotonin and dopamine levels. These are chemicals that will help to sooth and calm you. There can be no doubting that having cancer can cause stress, exercising is a natural way to alleviate that stress. Those “feel good” chemicals provide an atmosphere where stress won’t be able to flourish so easily.

Naturally lift depression – Exercise has often been referred to as a natural antidepressant. If you are person who finds yourself fighting depression and is having trouble keeping your spirits up, being active can help without any medication. When you already have to take medicine to treat your cancer, regular exercise is a good way to fight off depression without needing to take any
additional medication.

Keeps your body strong – As your doctor works hard to kill the cancer attacking your body, staying active through exercise is a great way to work on offsetting the damage being done to your body. Exercise works to keep the body as well as the mind strong. You can build lean muscle, increase the oxygen levels in your blood and improve your memory; it will help you to put the focus on remaining strong in the body and mind – something you need when you’re waging a war against cancer.

Imagine waking up one day knowing you have to receive mesothelioma treatment before that day ends. There is nothing you can do about the cancer or that you must deal with whatever side effects come with receiving such treatment. Now imagine starting that same day out by going for a brisk walk in your neighborhood; you walk for 30 minutes working up a sweat and admiring the beauty of nature. A lot of the questions are from information seeking curious individuals that truly want to understand the message that we are trying to deliver. Other questions are from those trying to clear up misinformation and misunderstanding. Then still we have those that are extremely skeptical and think ASEA is a scam and they mean to trip us up. I do understand, I didn’t believe in ASEA until I saw it change lives with my own eyes. I have a very personal connection to this product.

I wanted to take a few moments and address some of the more common questions and also common misconceptions that I see when it comes to ASEA.

Fact or Fiction?: Redox Signaling was invented by ASEA to sell ASEA.

A: Fiction!

I wrote a blog article a while back titled “What is Redox Signaling” . In the article I encouraged individuals to Google Redox Signaling and determine for themselves the science. WOW! I was torn apart for not explaining it. My intention was that if you Google Redox Signaling you can find thousands of independent articles on Redox Signaling. This would show this emerging science of Redox Signaling is not concocted by ASEA. I wont make that mistake again. At the bottom of this article under Resources I will include several links to outside sources on Redox Signaling. In addition there are several books on Amazon dealing with the topic of Redox Signaling including Redox Biochemistry & a publication on Antioxidants & Redox Signaling.

Why spend so much time on Redox Signaling? The first step to understanding ASEA is to having a basic understanding in the Science Behind ASEA.

Fact or Fiction?: ASEA was created for a comp plan for a network marketing company.

A: Fiction!

I understand this question. A lot of network marketing companies are created by professional network marketers to be network marketing companies. They want to create a company so they develop a marketing plan and then go find the products to fill the comp plan. Their entire Differentiating Advantage is their comp plan. The product is an after thought.

If you watch the How ASEA was Founded Video or attend any Meet ASEA meetings where Verdis Norton and James Pack tell their story you will quickly learn that when Verdis and James acquired the technology behind ASEA the intention was to determine why it worked, then to sell the technology for a profit. In order to determine why ASEA was getting the results it was, Verdis found and enlisted the help of Atomic Medical Physicist Dr. Gary L. Samuelson. It was Dr. Samuelson that determined what ASEA was and why it was working. Once they had made this discovery they did intend to sell and had an offer from a pharmaceutical company. Dr. Samuelson begged Verdis not to sell the technology because it would “be lost to mankind” if he did. Verdis took Dr. Samuelson’s advice and later ASEA was born!

I would describe ASEA as a Discovery. Actually two major discoveries that are scientific breakthroughs.

I mentioned that at the beginning of this post I have a very personal connection to this product, let me explain. First, I am an independent ASEA associate, I am not an employee. I also do want to promote and sell ASEA for a profit. However it goes beyond that. I have personally seen great benefits to individuals both close to me and that I have met through this endeavor and I fell an obligation to share. There are those that have written many negative articles on ASEA on the internet and branding it as a scam. I will say that those individuals have not done their due diligence and have an agenda. In fact a couple of them we have reached out to, invited them to ASEA to find out for themselves, on our dime with no obligation just to see the truth. They have all declined.

I was first introduced to ASEA prior to the launch by members of my family. They had invested very large amounts of money and are shareholders of ASEA. They encouraged me to take a look at the product and the company as they had intimate knowledge being shareholders. They then connected me to the Daughter and the Son of the CEO Verdis Norton. Nancy Norton Thunell was the first distributor in ASEA, Member of the founders club, diamond founders club and is a Triple Diamond. I am happy to say she is my close friend and her and her brother Jon Norton work directly with me to share and promote this wonderful product.

I truly believe that if you share ASEA, you will make a significant substantial difference in the lives of someone that needs it. I have seen it over and over again.

Patents and Other Goodies for ASEA

We’ve had a number of requests for patent information on the manufacturing, process, and solution known as ASEA.

Currently 6 of the 30 medical and mechanical patents have been approved for use by ASEA and Independent Associates.  ASEA continues to work to obtain the necessary permissions to use additional patents, scientific studies, and research documented since the creation of this product even before it was known as ASEA.

However, this vital information is still tied up in bureaucratic red tape surrounding ASEA’s designation as a supplement rather than a drug.

Optimizing Workouts

Planning a new fitness regimen? While working out for hours a day every day seems like a winning strategy for most celebrities, it’s not actually the most healthy exercise plan – but neither is sitting idly on the couch, admiring the dust-gathering treadmill. So what does it take to get the optimal amount of exercise? 

When it comes to working out, it’s important to exercise smarter – not longer or harder – and more consistently. Dr. Pietro Tonino, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Loyola University Hospital, says the ideal workout is 30-60 minutes a day to avoid the degenerative damage to tendons and muscles that can follow overexercising while still giving your body the challenge it needs to build muscle and burn fat. 

To get the best fitness results, start your workout with anaerobic strength training before moving on to aerobic activities like running or cycling. By depleting some carbohydrates stores during the initial weights session, you’ll put your body in the fat-burning zone before even starting cardio. Plus, extra muscle requires extra calories to maintain – meaning you’ll burn extra calories while sitting at your desk the next day.  

Of course, exercise alone isn’t the answer. The age-old answer of “eat less, exercise more” has been empirically proven true. A study by the University of Pittsburgh found that of 191 overweight or obese women who were required to lose 10 percent of their initial body weight and maintain the loss for two years, the 47 women who had the most success were those who combined a reduced caloric intake (1200-1500 calories a day) with 4-5 hours of exercise a week.

Protein-packed breakfastS improve weight loss

There’s a reason bacon and eggs have been a breakfast staple for ages – a protein-rich breakfast does wonders to keep one’s body satisfied longer. But did you know that a healthy, protein-packed breakfast will also curb your cravings and reward-driven eating behavior? 

According to Heather Leidy, an assistant professor in University of Missouri’s Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, lots of protein in the morning reduces the brain signals that control food motivation and reward-driven eating behavior.  She reached this conclusion after studying breakfast-skipping teens for three weeks. One group continued to skip breakfast or ate 500-calorie breakfasts of cereal and milk while the other group ate high-protein meals of Belgium waffles, syrup and yogurt. 

Immediately before lunch, researchers used fMRI technology to study participants’ brain activation responses. Results showed that while both meals led to increased fullness and reduced hunger throughout the morning, the breakfast with more protein led to even greater changes in fullness, appetite, and reward-driven eating behavior.  

Here are some ways to be a better breakfaster:

  • Be handy – If weight loss is a priority for you, don’t leave the house empty-handed in the mornings. Keep portable protein-rich foods on hand. Hard-boiled eggs, nuts, and string cheese are great to grab and go, either for an immediate breakfast or a healthy mid-morning snack.
  • Cook quickly – If you can spend a few more minutes in the kitchen, shoot for a slice of toast with peanut (or almond) butter, a quick scrambled egg, or a smoothie with protein powder. One of my quick favorites is to warm a whole-wheat tortilla, spread it with almond butter and cinnamon (which is proven to help your body process sugar), and then wrap it around a banana.
  • Order wisely – If the drive-thru still calls your name, be sure you order the right item. Egg McMuffins are surprisingly diet-approved – they’re only 350 calories each and are packed with protein. Go for an egg burrito over anything starchy like French toast sticks, and if you have the willpower, skip the hash browns.

Four Ways to Lose Weight Without Gym

“Eat less, exercise more.” While these wise words incorporate the most universally successful diet plan, there are several things you can do without hitting the gym to help your body fuel more efficiently. Here are four tips that will help you reach your weight goal: 

CATCH MORE ZZZ’S – Giving your body a full night’s rest is one of the best ways to shed weight. A recent study showed that when participants slept for only four hours consumed an extra 300 calories compared with when they slept a full eight hours! Sleep deprivation also curbs self-control. Plan ahead and wind down your night in time to provide adequate sleep. Its benefits go far beyond losing weight. 

HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE – The human body is mostly water, which is incentive enough to be sure you’re getting the minimum eight glasses a day, but did you know water can help your diet? Drinking water helps to keep you feeling full, meaning less snacking. Downing ice water has the added benefit of boosting your metabolism, burning calories in the process of warming the water. A pre-workout hydration session will help your body release muscle-building hormones – and more muscle means a higher basal metabolic rate. If too much water bores you, look for healthy ways to change it up. A number of companies make flavored waters that are packed with helpful vitamins. Green tea has the added benefit of antioxidants and a metabolism boost that can add up to an extra 400 calories or more per week! 

WATCH PORTIONS – Being a conscious eater is a good habit to develop, regardless of dieting. It takes the body 20 minutes after eating to recognize it’s full. By knowing what a serving size should be and sticking to it, you’ll be able to avoid that overfull feeling and give your body the right amount of fuel. Remember, you can always come back for more food if you’re still hungry later. When eating out, where meals are regularly double or triple the size of what your body actually needs, it may be wise to ask for half your order to be boxed up to go – it’s a great way to curb mindless eating AND stretch your delicious dish for two meals. 

GET FIT WITH FRIENDS – Take positive peer pressure to the next level by checking in with friends or relatives who are also fitness minded. That healthy support system can help you make wiser lifestyle choices, from choosing more active entertainment options to skipping calorie-laden lunches or happy hours. If IRL (“in real life”) relationships won’t cut it, there are a number of free fitness forums online that provide nutrition information along with peer encouragement, from cyclist Lance Armstrong’s LiveStrong to MyFitnessPal, which recently reported a combined weight loss of 20 million pounds among its membership – simply by counting calories, exercising, and comparing notes.

Tired of the same old, same old? Here are some out-of-the-box eats to incorporate into your diet, along with some stand-bys with benefits just too good to ignore: 

WATERMELON – If you need an excuse to load up on this summer favorite, here’s one: watermelon contains lots of nutrients and cancer-fighting antioxidants like lycopene and vitamin C. As if that wasn’t enough, it’s 92 percent water, meaning it will full you up with minimal calories. 

JICAMA – While this Mexican turnip may look like a fuzzy brown lump, beneath the surface is a fiber-packed snack that can work wonders for weight loss. Researchers at Penn State University additionally found that those who ate whole grains lost 2.4 times more belly fat than their refined-grain-eating counterparts. This makes sense when considering how whole grains favorably affect blood-glucose levels, keeping your body from blood sugar spikes. New Sports Findings: ASEA Increases Athletic Endurance, Ventilatory Threshold and VO2 Max

My name is Antony Galvan I am the current California masters state criterium champion.

There is a really big race that happens every year at Manhattan Beach Grand Prix. I have won it the last three years in a row. This year I was going after number four. I was very pumped for it. About three weeks prior I was doing a race on the other side of the country and had a horrible crash. It put me in bed, I got a bad infection, I was on antibiotics, I couldn’t do anything.

The last week of those three weeks of doing nothing a friend turned me onto ASEA. I started taking it twice a day. That was the only thing I did, I didn’t ride my bike…Nothing! I came out and I won for the fourth year in a row. The biggest race of the year.

One of the things that makes criterium racing unique in cycling is that it demands that you be able to put out an extremely hard anaerobic effort, then recover almost immediately! Then do it again and do it again and again. Its not like a marathon where you just go go go endurance.

That’s the first kind of fitness that you loose when you take time off. It’s the one that you really have to work hard to maintain constantly staying on top of it. So to sit on my back, to lay on my back for three weeks not doing anything. Days are ticking off, I’m seeing there is a counter there is my race. I missed two weekends of racing being back here that would have used as my prep. Everything is going out the window and I am just like “I am not going to be able to pull this off” Then to come within three days before the race I got on my bike. I got on my bike three days! The only thing I had done for a week prior was take ASEA. That was my training.

I couldn’t have found it at a better time, I am five week out from nationals and I am going to Portugal for Worlds. There is some big stuff coming up and this is absolutely going to be part of my protocol.

It’s like the blind test, I did nothing except take that and I won. So imagine when I start doing something and taking that. I am very excited for the races to come.

“My name is Josh Horowitz I am the director of the Adageo Energy pro cycling team I am also a racer on the team and I am a coach.

Bike racing is a tough sport. Sometimes you train 25, 30, even 35 hours a week. Races can last two, three, four days even a week. If you can come back stronger each day instead of getting more and more fatigued it is going to be a big part of your ability to succeed in the sport. ASEA has become a big part of that for me. I have found that I can train back to back days and do races multiple days in a row and still feel strong and even actually feel stronger from day to day.

I take my training very seriously. It is all very calculated, it is all very scheduled down to the minute. I notice with the ASEA, using my power meter which gives me a very objective quantification of how strong I am riding, I have noticed when I am on ASEA I can sustain my power outputs for much longer periods of time. I can do more intervals in a row without having to rest. When it comes to race day that’s really a lot of the success is due to the ability to maintain a strong power output all the way through the end of the race. At the end of the day when you cross the finish line that you have a little bit more left in the tank then the rest of the riders, that can be the difference between a top placing and a pack finish.

I use ASEA in my preparation for the Philadelphia international championships. Which was a big objective for me for my entire cycling career. I used it pretty regularly for about a month leading up to the race. I did some heavy training, and my training was the best training I think I have ever had in my 23 year cycling career.
