Clinical Trial Shows Athletic Advantage For ASEA Athletes

Study finds that after drinking ASEA for one week, athletes experienced shift in 43 metabolites

Salt Lake City, Utah — ASEA, LLC announces the release of groundbreaking findings at the Experimental Biology 2012 Conference in San Diego of a new study from the Human Performance Laboratory showing increased power output and endurance among competitive athletes.*

Nieman, DrPH, FACSM at the Human Performance Laboratory, Appalachian State University, found that after drinking ASEA athletes experienced massive free-fatty acid mobilization in the blood PRIOR to exercise to a level normally found only after heavy exercise.

“These are very significant findings,” said Nieman. “Our research demonstrated that ASEA is causing mobilization of free-fatty acids PRIOR to exercise, making this source of fuel available at the outset of exercise or competitive performance. This has important implications, especially regarding glycogen sparing, which is something every athlete tries to achieve.”
Glycogen sparing is the use of non-carbohydrates as a source of energy during exercise so that the depletion of muscle glycogen is delayed. When glycogen is spared the body burns fats for energy, making a greater contribution to an athlete’s efforts during the initial stages of a race. This leaves more glycogen for the later stages of racing or exercise, and muscle fatigue will be delayed.

The research found that after drinking ASEA for one week, athletes were experiencing a shift in 43 metabolites.

“We have rarely seen such a drastic difference. For 43 of those signals to change, that is a quarter of the metabolite profile that we are monitoring. It is a huge bump in metabolite shifts that are due to the ingestion of just one product,” said Nieman.

What do these metabolite shifts mean for athletes?

“Athletes actually started the exercise after drinking ASEA with a lot more of these free-fatty acids in their blood. The reason that is important is that the muscles will actually use that as fuel, sparing the muscle glycogen and the use of amino acids which is what we found as we analyzed the data,” said Nieman.

“Every understanding from the literature is that these probably came from the fat stores in the abdominal area,” said Nieman. “So if you drink ASEA we found that the fats go up in the blood. If you’re not exercising, those fats will still be used to support the body’s metabolism for life.”

Simply drinking ASEA for seven days mobilized fuel stores in the body from abdominal fat. For those that want to burn more fat during exercise ASEA is ideal. Even without exercise the freed up fat stores will be used by the body as fuel.

Although this is the first laboratory study of ASEA on athletes, many endurance athletes have been drinking ASEA and noticing improvements in their race times, recovery after racing/training, etc.

James Lawrence, World Record, Most Triathlons 70.3 races, said, “I’ve experienced all these tremendous benefits over the last few years when I’m doing all these world records, and maybe didn’t understand it, but was fearful to go off the product. With this new study it’s really helped me understand why I don’t get sore, and why I’m able to just lock in this strong pace and hold it for so long.”

But at the same time it’s great to have that solid evidence that laboratory test make official. That gives it that official stamp of approval from the scientists and then the stamp of approval from lead athletes.”

Learning about the research behind ASEA boosts my confidence and reinforces what I already know.” Typically, muscle glycogen is reduced in the body during a single or many groups of energy expenditures. For example, during a single sprint muscle glycogen may deplete by 25% to 30% of the resting levels. Similarly, at the end of longer durations (60 to 90 minutes) of high, moderate and low exercise muscle, glycogen will be dramatically reduced or depleted.

The study included 20 fit athletes in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-based, cross-over study. After baseline testing for VO2Max and body composition, one-half of the athletes drank four ounces of ASEA each day for seven days. The other one-half of the athletes drank four ounces of a placebo for seven days. Then all athletes completed a 75-km cycling trial, with blood drawn prior to the trial, immediately after the trial and one hour after the trial.

After a “washout” period in which none of the athletes drank ASEA or the placebo, a seven day cross-over study was conducted. The original ASEA group drank the placebo and the original placebo group drank ASEA for a seven day period. Then all athletes completed a second 75-km cycling trial, with blood drawn prior to the trial, immediately after the trial and one hour after the trial.

The research demonstrated that drinking ASEA taps into the body’s largest energy reserves, freeing fatty acids from adipose tissue, BEFORE exercise or athletic competition.

“This unexpected mobilization of fatty acids in theory will lead to better endurance in athletes, assisting athletes to maintain a certain pace for longer periods of time,” said Nieman.

The research found that the release of fatty acids is coming from fatty adipose tissue, the body’s source of abundant, available energy. Adipose tissue is fat stored around the organs of the body, with the most common and largest fat store being the abdominal area. Adipose tissue triglycerides represent the largest energy reserve in the human body. Utilizing these stores is critical for prolonged endurance exercise.

The study also demonstrated that the athletes in the study experienced a massive increase in blood levels of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) after exercise. This could indicate less oxidative stress on muscles. Further research is being conducted to determine the implications of this increase.

“This study is the latest in ASEA’s commitment to ongoing research. The frontiers of redox signaling molecules and ASEA are constantly being pushed. This latest study is not a destination, but an on-ramp,” said Verdis Norton, Chief Executive Officer at ASEA.

fact-fictionSince I have been doing this blog with my good friend Matt we often get asked a lot of questions regarding ASEA. A lot of the questions are from information seeking curious individuals that truly want to understand the message that we are trying to deliver. Other questions are from those trying to clear up misinformation and misunderstanding. Then still we have those that are extremely skeptical and think ASEA is a scam and they mean to trip us up. I do understand, I didn’t believe in ASEA until I saw it change lives with my own eyes. I have a very personal connection to this product.

I wanted to take a few moments and address some of the more common questions and also common misconceptions that I see when it comes to ASEA.

Fact or Fiction?: Redox Signaling was invented by ASEA to sell ASEA.

A: Fiction!

I wrote a blog article a while back titled “What is Redox Signaling” . In the article I encouraged individuals to Google Redox Signaling and determine for themselves the science. WOW! I was torn apart for not explaining it. My intention was that if you Google Redox Signaling you can find thousands of independent articles on Redox Signaling. This would show this emerging science of Redox Signaling is not concocted by ASEA. I wont make that mistake again. At the bottom of this article under Resources I will include several links to outside sources on Redox Signaling. In addition there are several books on Amazon dealing with the topic of Redox Signaling including Redox Biochemistry & a publication on Antioxidants & Redox Signaling.

Why spend so much time on Redox Signaling? The first step to understanding ASEA is to having a basic understanding in the Science Behind ASEA.

Fact or Fiction?: ASEA was created for a comp plan for a network marketing company.

A: Fiction!

I understand this question. A lot of network marketing companies are created by professional network marketers to be network marketing companies. They want to create a company so they develop a marketing plan and then go find the products to fill the comp plan. Their entire Differentiating Advantage is their comp plan. The product is an after thought.

If you watch the How ASEA was Founded Video or attend any Meet ASEA meetings where Verdis Norton and James Pack tell their story you will quickly learn that when Verdis and James acquired the technology behind ASEA the intention was to determine why it worked, then to sell the technology for a profit. In order to determine why ASEA was getting the results it was, Verdis found and enlisted the help of Atomic Medical Physicist Dr. Gary L. Samuelson. It was Dr. Samuelson that determined what ASEA was and why it was working. Once they had made this discovery they did intend to sell and had an offer from a pharmaceutical company. Dr. Samuelson begged Verdis not to sell the technology because it would “be lost to mankind” if he did. Verdis took Dr. Samuelson’s advice and later ASEA was born!

I would describe ASEA as a Discovery. Actually two major discoveries that are scientific breakthroughs.

I mentioned that at the beginning of this post I have a very personal connection to this product, let me explain. First, I am an independent ASEA associate, I am not an employee. I also do want to promote and sell ASEA for a profit. However it goes beyond that. I have personally seen great benefits to individuals both close to me and that I have met through this endeavor and I fell an obligation to share. There are those that have written many negative articles on ASEA on the internet and branding it as a scam. I will say that those individuals have not done their due diligence and have an agenda. In fact a couple of them we have reached out to, invited them to ASEA to find out for themselves, on our dime with no obligation just to see the truth. They have all declined.

I was first introduced to ASEA prior to the launch by members of my family. They had invested very large amounts of money and are shareholders of ASEA. They encouraged me to take a look at the product and the company as they had intimate knowledge being shareholders. They then connected me to the Daughter and the Son of the CEO Verdis Norton. Nancy Norton Thunell was the first distributor in ASEA, Member of the founders club, diamond founders club and is a Triple Diamond. I am happy to say she is my close friend and her and her brother Jon Norton work directly with me to share and promote this wonderful product.

I truly believe that if you share ASEA, you will make a significant substantial difference in the lives of someone that needs it. I have seen it over and over again.

Patents and Other Goodies for ASEA

We’ve had a number of requests for patent information on the manufacturing, process, and solution known as ASEA.

Currently 6 of the 30 medical and mechanical patents have been approved for use by ASEA and Independent Associates.  ASEA continues to work to obtain the necessary permissions to use additional patents, scientific studies, and research documented since the creation of this product even before it was known as ASEA.

However, this vital information is still tied up in bureaucratic red tape surrounding ASEA’s designation as a supplement rather than a drug.

New Sports Findings: ASEA Increases Athletic Endurance, Ventilatory Threshold and VO2 Max

ASEA, LLC announces new groundbreaking findings of a study showing increased power output and endurance among competitive athletes.

ASEA, with its Redox Signaling technology, is a powerful new drink that helps both competitive and recreational athletes step up their game to new levels of performance.

Dr. Gary L. Samuelson, Ph.D., a leading Redox Signaling scientist, conducted a clinical trial exploring ASEA’s effects on athletic endurance. Dr. Samuelson tested athletic endurance, time to ventilatory threshold and the VO2 max rate of 17 competitive athletes over a period of weeks. The athletes drank ASEA daily and their levels were closely monitored.

The group averaged a 12 percent increase in their time to ventilatory threshold, meaning they were able to expend energy and effort 12 percent longer before they hit the runner’s wall.

The results of Dr. Samuelson’s trial also concluded, “Based on the data, about 70 percent of athletes who try ASEA should experience the ability to maintain a higher power output without crossing the ventilatory threshold… allowing them to go longer at the same power burn or to operate at a higher power burn than possible before drinking ASEA.”

Several athletes also experienced an increase in power output and endurance of more than 30 percent. Lower average heart rates and less soreness and fatigue were also reported.

Athletic Reviews: Increased Performance, Endurance & Recovery

ASEA has been reviewed by Road Bike Action Magazine, which conducted a three-month trial of the product.

Cunningham, technical editor for Road Bike Action Magazine. “ASEA quietly powers up the muscles, dramatically reducing recovery times after over-the-top efforts, and it enables you to push precariously close to the anaerobic threshold for prolonged periods of time,” says Cunningham.

Jonathan Hollar, an Ironman triathlete who added ASEA to his training regimen before a major Olympic duathlon race, said, “The last time I completed an Olympic duathlon my finish time was 2:55:00. That day it was 2:08:55! I came in second place overall. In previous races I never broke the top 100! I recommend ASEA to every person I meet!”

James Lawrence, Ironman athlete, attributes ASEA to helping him break the world record of completing the highest number of Half Ironman Triathalons (Ironman 70.3s) in one year. When he contacted Guinness World Records, they informed him that the old record was 16, but that they would only accept a new record of 20 or higher.

An Ironman 70.3 consists of a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile bike ride, followed by a 13.1-mile run. To complete 20 of these in one year, Lawrence would need to finish an Ironman 70.3 every two weeks.

In just 30 weeks, averaging one race every 9-10 days, Lawrence broke the world record, completing 22 Ironman 70.3 races.

“ASEA was definitely instrumental in my recovery,” he says. “It gave me every advantage that I needed to break this record. I was scared to stop drinking ASEA while attempting this quest!”

“When I was introduced to ASEA, I dismissed the claims,” Lawrence says. “I went to a sports clinic and was tested and then went on the product for six weeks. I returned and did the same test. I was able to run faster on a steeper incline with a lower heart rate. ASEA increased my body’s natural ability to process oxygen, allowing me to get as close as possible to my maximum VO2 rate.”

“Clinical data doesn’t lie,” said Lawrence. “I knew that ASEA was something that I had to have to help me accomplish my goals. ASEA helps me to recover quickly and train more on short weeks before events. With this product I get back on my feet and go out and kill it again. I wouldn’t want to be without ASEA. I think my performance would drop and I would be risking injury.”

“My name is Josh Horowitz I am the director of the Adageo Energy pro cycling team I am also a racer on the team and I am a coach.

Bike racing is a tough sport. Sometimes you train 25, 30, even 35 hours a week. Races can last two, three, four days even a week. If you can come back stronger each day instead of getting more and more fatigued it is going to be a big part of your ability to succeed in the sport. ASEA has become a big part of that for me. I have found that I can train back to back days and do races multiple days in a row and still feel strong and even actually feel stronger from day to day.

I take my training very seriously. It is all very calculated, it is all very scheduled down to the minute. I notice with the ASEA, using my power meter which gives me a very objective quantification of how strong I am riding, I have noticed when I am on ASEA I can sustain my power outputs for much longer periods of time. I can do more intervals in a row without having to rest. When it comes to race day that’s really a lot of the success is due to the ability to maintain a strong power output all the way through the end of the race. At the end of the day when you cross the finish line that you have a little bit more left in the tank then the rest of the riders, that can be the difference between a top placing and a pack finish.

I use ASEA in my preparation for the Philadelphia international championships. Which was a big objective for me for my entire cycling career. Men’s Fitness Magazine “Fittest Guy in the World”

Awarded the title of one of 2009′s “25 Fittest Guys in the World” by Men’s Fitness Magazine, Rich is a plant-based nutrition advocate, entertainment attorney, writer and family man. But most of all, he is a passionate elite ultra-distance endurance athlete.

This is his story in his words.

“About a year and half ago, my friend Timothy Harrington started bugging me, doing his best to convince me to try this new product he was involved with called ASEA.

“Sorry buddy. Never heard of it. Not interested.” I politely replied, rejecting the offer.

“Just take a look. Studies on athletes have shown that it can significantly increase aerobic capacity in endurance athletes and decrease recovery time between workouts. I think this could really benefit you.”

Whatever. I’ve heard it many times before, and I’ll hear it again, I’m sure. Just another new product hitting the market making claims it simply can’t support. Anyone who knows me knows that I am incredibly particular about my nutrition – an intense pickiness that extends beyond my whole food plant-based diet to the supplements I choose to incorporate into my daily routine. In fact, I do my best to keep my dietary supplements down to a bare minimum – only taking into my body that which is absolutely required to ensure my system gets what it needs; what I might have overlooked due to dietary restrictions; or what I may need to enhance recovery due to heavy training. And the supplements I do use are generally organic and plant-based as opposed to chemical in composition — things like EFA Oil, plant-based protein powders, Chlorophyll, spirulina, and L-Glutamine. But that’s pretty much it, other than the plant-based recovery elixir I have been developing with Ascended Health. So I can’t say I was exactly open to trying a new product I not only had never heard of, but whose only active ingredient was also something I had never heard of – redox signaling molecules.

What is Redox Signaling?

I’m not a doctor. But I was pre-med for two years at Stanford, where I studied human biology and organic chemistry. And so to a limited degree, I know a few things. But redox signaling molecules? What the heck is that? I chalked it up to creative marketing, cryptically dressing up what clearly was nothing more than the latest snake oil with some half-baked scientific labeling mumbo-jumbo. Tim’s a nice guy, but I wasn’t buying. Thanks but no thanks.

But Tim persisted. Just try it, he urged, following up by sending me a litany of research materials and scientific studies performed by disinterested third parties on the science behind redox signaling and reactive molecules. I read them all, then did my own research. Its very complex stuff, indeed. But I’ll do my best to explain what I learned in the most simplistic of terms.

Let’s start at the beginning. The human body is made up of somewhere in the range of 100 trillion cells. Within each cell are mitochondria, which are responsible for the creation of energy by way of what is called the Krebs Cycle. This process entails the conversion of glucose to ATP. The byproducts of the Krebs Cycle along the Electron Transport Chain are what are known as redox signaling molecules (“RSM”). Originally, scientists perceived these byproducts as metabolic waste – oxidants and reductants that must be purged from the cell in order to remain healthy. However, current research suggests otherwise. That in fact a proper homeostatic balance of oxidants and reductants is absolutely necessary for maintaining cellular health, including virtually all of the functions of the immune system and tissue regeneration response. In the most simplistic terms, they provide a means by which cells participate in intra- and inter-cellular damage-control communications, activation of antioxidants, cellular protection and defense against toxins and free radicals, and in the healing response. The human body is constantly working to maintain cellular health by balancing these redox signaling molecules to rid the body of harmful components and to clean up the oxidative stress and free radical damage that occurs at the cellular level, while simultaneously ensuring the cell’s ability to maintain proper communication with its environment. When these reactive molecules are in the proper balance, the immune system and healing process function at their optimal level.

Virtually all disease and bodily challenges are caused by what is called oxidative stress – an increasingly salient reality of living in modern times attributable to a wide variety of factors, including sun damage, excessive exercise, electromagnetic radiation, food additives and preservatives, x-ray radiation, prescription drugs, heavy metals, stress, anxiety, air & water pollution, lack of sleep, and toxic industrialized chemicals to name a few. These factors cause our cells to produce an excess of oxidants in comparison to reductants – thus throwing off the cell’s homeostatic balance of RSMs and promoting the proliferation of harmful free radicals. But this imbalance is how the cell detects damage and is signaled to repair itself. The immune system is summoned, prompting repair, or replacement of the cell via mitosis (cell division) of a neighboring healthy cell. Without this excess of oxidants indicating oxidative stress, the cell wouldn’t know to reach out for restorative help. Too many oxidants leads to a proliferation of damaged cells. But too few oxidants impairs the cell’s ability to signal an immune response and to repair damage. Therefore, balance – homeostasis – is key.

However, chronic oxidative stress leads to a proliferation of free radicals that unless neutralized, lead to cell damage that will continue to worsen – damaging the cell walls, vessel walls, proteins, fats and even the DNA nucleus of our cells — until the cell can no longer properly function. The result advances the aging of tissues, leading to poor health and the potentiality for degenerative disease.

It is for this reason that we are constantly inundated with the health benefits of anti-oxidants. The idea is that these molecules combat the proliferation of free radicals in an effort to bring the cell back to healthy homeostasis. But herein lies the rub. First, most antioxidant supplements are molecules far too large to pass through the cell wall, averaging about 200 atoms in diameter. Therefore, most (some scientists estimate about 90%) are denied entry to the place where they are needed most – inside the cell where the free radicals are found. Second, one anti-oxidant molecule is empowered to combat one free radical molecule before becoming essentially inert. It is thus a 1:1 ratio. However, the body generally harbors about 100 sextillion free radicals a day. That’s a heck of a lot! Due to this restrictive 1:1 ratio, scientific studies show that your body can’t possibly ingest enough antioxidants to eliminate the number of free radicals your body makes every day. For example, you would have to eat 32 pounds of strawberries, 31 pounds of raspberries, AND 15 pounds of dark chocolate per day to achieve the antioxidant power that it would take to eliminate the free radicals that are created naturally in the body.

ASEA

This is where ASEA comes in – as the first and only RSM supplement. As stated above, stable RSMs are central to the body’s healing mechanisms, mediating multiple cellular defense, repair & replacement signaling pathways. In other words, ASEA is purported to significantly stimulate the cell’s own production of the master antioxidants inside the cells without causing an inflammatory immune system response. What does this mean? It means that the body becomes empowered to neutralize approximately 70,000,000 free radicals per second — the rate at which native Glutathione Peroxidase is able to process oxidative free radicals. Quite an improvement over the results that can be achieved by a diet rich in anti-oxidants.

But let me be clear on one point that is likely on your mind. ASEA is not a vitamin, mineral, juice, or antioxidant. And yet it is not a drug either, having received the clean certificates of analysis required by the UCI, the organization that coordinates and monitors doping in cycling. There is nothing in ASEA that could possibly be classified as a banned substance. Period. Again, ASEA is entirely non-toxic and native to the body. In fact, it doesn’t force the body to do anything it wouldn’t ordinarily do. It’s not a cure to anything, and is not a replacement for proper nutrition. It merely enhances the body’s innate ability to repair itself. The company describes the product as follows:

The purported benefits of ASEA extend to athletic performance. ASEA studies on athletes demonstrate:

* An increase in athletic endurance, as measured by time to ventilatory threshold and time to VO2max , by more than 10% on average;
* A 10% increase in the athlete’s ability to sustain maximum threshold
* A reduction in heart rate in some cases, evidencing an increase in aerobic capacity;
* A reduction in soreness, inflammation and recovery time; and
* An increase in lactate flushing by 5-10%.

Granted, these are studies conducted by ASEA. So it’s not surprising that the findings were positive. Additional double-blind studies on ASEA’s effects on athletic performance are currently in motion under the authority of highly reputable third party laboratories, so I anxiously await those results.

Fine. All well and good on paper. At least enough to convince me to give it a try. So about a year ago – a short while before ASEA was even officially introduced to the marketplace — I relented and Tim sent me a crate of the stuff. At first taste, I have to say I was not impressed. The stuff tastes like pool water. But I agreed to give it an honest go, my expectations limited at best. 4 ounces twice a day. Bear in mind that my first-hand findings are hardly scientific – purely anecdotal in fact. Not a variable-free double-blind study by any stretch. But I have to say that I did find that my training kicked into high gear. I was recovering rapidly between workouts, despite a very heavy load averaging around 20-25 hours per week, particularly in the lead up to EPIC5. I did not get sick, injured or overly fatigued. I just got stronger. My power on the bike continued to escalate, and I did not experience the weariness I had suffered this same month of training the year prior. To double check, I went through my training logs from the previous season and evaluated where I stood in comparison. To be certain, I understand that there are other factors at play – having only been competing in endurance sports for a few years, it is to be expected that I would continue to improve, particularly as I learned more about how to perfect my nutrition. But the gains exceeded what I anticipated, and this was reflected in my periodic lactate tests, which give me an accurate window into my true physical condition.

And so I continued to use the product. I trained for EPIC5 on ASEA. And have been using it consistently ever since. I realize there will be naysayers and doubters out there. I don’t blame you. I was definitely one of them. But I do believe that I am realizing tangible performance gains as a result of consistent use, most noticeably in my ability to recover between workouts.

Despite my inner conviction of the benefits of the product, I remained reluctant to speak publicly about my experience until I could better understand the science behind ASEA. Verdis’ team includes his two sons Jon and Tyler, as well as his daughter Nancy – all people I have come to respect and hold in high regard, not just for their business acumen, but as human beings. I honestly believe their primary goal is to help people by improving health and empowering the individual. To be certain, ASEA is a business for profit. But I know that there is a much higher purpose at play that motivates the Nortons far beyond the promise of a dollar.

Over the last year, I have been approached by many nutrition and supplement companies seeking my endorsement. Each and every time I have said no. ASEA Athlete ~ Tim Leary

My name is Tim Leary, I grew up here in Santa Monica, California, Played pro baseball for 15 years, 13 years in the Major Leagues as a Right Hand Pitcher. Mostly as a starting pitcher. Won a World Series with the Dodgers in 1998.

International Olympic Committee Surprise; Food Supplements can Enhance Athletic Performance.

Food supplements can boost athletic performance, according to new advice from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that marks an about face from earlier positions.

The Swiss organisation said, “a very small number may enhance performance for some athletes” but did not go into specifics about what those supplements might be. Earlier advice from the IOC had warned athletes off food supplements as groups like the US Anti-Doping Agency do.

It said supplements must be, “used in accordance with current evidence under the guidance of a well-informed professional.”

“Athletes contemplating the use of supplements and sports foods should consider their efficacy, their cost, the risk to health and performance, and the potential for a positive doping test. Supplement use in young athletes should be discouraged, and the focus should be on consuming a nutrient-rich, well-chosen diet to allow for growth while maintaining a healthy body composition.”

The Olympic body added that supplementation does not compensate for, “poor food choices and an inadequate diet”.

“…but supplements that provide essential nutrients may be a short-term option when food intake or food choices are restricted due to travel or other factors.”

ASEA is putting its product through rigorous testing and research to prove it has a tremendous impact on performance for athletes. Studies to date show the redox signaling molecules in ASEA are able power up aerobic performance.

As the energy requirements of the cells and tissues increase during aerobic activity, oxygen and sugars in the blood must be able to be transferred from the lungs and energy stores into the muscle cells and tissues. Waste products like CO2 and excess lactates must be transferred out of the cells and tissues and back into the blood and out of the body. The efficiency at which the cells can move oxgen fuel and waste products back and forth through the blood and cellular membranes determines how long the body can sustain aerobic activity. When the oxygen and energy demands of the muscle tissues exceed the ability of the body to maintain adequate delivery, the muscle cells and tissues start to burn internal energy stores anaerobically (without the use of oxygen), waste products (CO2 and lactates) start to build up and further interfere with the aerobic processes. When the internal energy stores of the muscle cells are exhausted, no more energy can be provided and muscle activity ceases completely.

Increasing the amount of balanced redox signaling molecules in the body helps normalize the redox potential in and around the cells and tissues. A balanced redox potential in the tissues increases the efficiency at which oxygen, fuels and wastes can be transferred in and out of cells and tissues, making the natural aerobic processes more efficient. If aerobic capacities are increased, then the natural length of time that aerobic activity can be sustained under high energy demands is also increased. The time that it takes to recover normal aerobic balance after an intense anaerobic effort is also shortened.

A Family Physician talks about Asea

Dr. Robert Ward is a practicing family physician in Richmond, Kentucky. Dr Ward was recently introduced to Asea and has had the opportunity to use it with his patients. Triathlete Cindy Lampee on Asea

I am Cindy Lampee and I am a stay at home mom. I have been a runner for about eighteen years. Just recently I got into triathlons after running four marathons in just under two years.

After four weeks of being on ASEA I ran a 10k and I had a personal record and I had a negative split. Which means that I ran the second half faster than the first half. Which was something I had been trying to achieve for two years and had been unable to accomplish.

The next race was two weeks later and it was a 10 mile race. I also set a personal record and I knocked 14 minutes off a previous 10 mile race that I had just run 3 months earlier.

I run with a group and I have noticed that during my runs after two or three miles of warming up that I am getting faster and I feel stronger and I end up running ahead of the group and I finish before the group.

My recovery time is quicker. Recovery, for a busy mom is very important because I can’t rest after a long run. I have children to take care of and I have to keep going. As an athlete it is important because you have your runs and your trainings the next day, your bike rides are slim. It just makes you stronger for the next workout.

I can not imagine training without ASEA. I take it before every training run and before every race I have ASEA with me and I will drink 4 to 6 ounces about 20 minutes before the race.

I will never run without ASEA again!

The Cycling World is getting turned on to ASEA.

“So, the ASEA folks spent some bucks for some independent tests on endurance athletes and discovered that athletes, on average, could push 10 percent longer at their maximum thresholds with high results in the 30-percent range and lows around 7 percent. After testing this stuff for three months, I’d have to agree with them. We could pedal harder and longer and recover from repeated, 100-percent efforts in ridiculously short intervals. The word “recovery” is the operate in the ASEA equation”

“Initially, people drink 6 ounces and wait for some chemical “kick,” like how a super-caffeinated coke hits you when you are on the ropes. Instead, ASEA quietly powers up the muscles, dramatically reducing recovery time after over-the-top efforts, and it enables you to push precariously close to the anaerobic threshold for prolonged periods of time. Typically, a cyclist can recover from three, perhaps four all-out efforts over the course of an event. Any more than that, and the athlete’s overall performance will be cut short and every subsequent effort will be painful. Typically, ASEA users can go hard over and over again and count on a full recovery within a few minutes. In addition, it is possible to push harder on the pedals for extended periods without going anaerobic. Most climbs can be ridden at least on gear higher, with some users busting out climbs in the next larger chainring.”

“ASEA doesn’t seem to improve your peak strength. If you can’t get over a particular hill in your big chainring today, six gulps of ASEA won’t power you over the mountain tomorrow. You still have to train to get stronger. ASEA will help you maintain your existing strength over a longer period of time. For Instance: if you could push the middle chainring up a 16-percent grade during the first 30 minutes of a ride, two hours later-when most riders would be clicking into the granny gear before a big climb-you could probably repeat that performance”
